Weight Loss Designed Around You

Personalized medical care. Evidence-based treatment. Real support.

Weight loss isn’t simply about eating less or trying harder. Metabolism, age, hormones, sleep, stress, medications, appetite, and changes in muscle mass can all affect how your body responds.

At Hourglass, our NP and RN-led medical weight loss program takes a personalized approach—combining appropriate medical treatment with nutrition, lifestyle support, and ongoing monitoring.

Because the goal isn’t just to lose weight. It’s to become healthier, stronger, and feel better in your body.

How It Works

Your Hourglass Weight Loss Journey

  1. Start With a Medical Assessment

We review your health history, medications, previous weight loss efforts, lifestyle, concerns, and goals. Laboratory testing may be recommended when appropriate.

  2. Create Your Personalized Plan

Your plan may include prescription medication, nutrition and protein goals, physical activity recommendations, and lifestyle strategies based on your individual needs.

  3. Monitor, Adjust & Support

Our NP and RN team monitors your progress, medication response, side effects, and overall well-being, making adjustments when clinically appropriate.

  4. Maintain Your Results

Reaching your goal isn’t the end of the journey. We’ll help you develop a long-term strategy for maintaining your progress and supporting your health.

Weight Loss Medication Options

Medication Is a Tool—Not the Whole Toolbox

When medically appropriate, prescription medication may be incorporated into your personalized treatment plan.

Options may include:

Semaglutide

A GLP-1 receptor agonist that can decrease appetite, increase feelings of fullness, and support weight management in appropriate patients.

Tirzepatide

A medication that acts on both GIP and GLP-1 pathways to help regulate appetite and support weight reduction in appropriate patients.

Other Prescription Options

GLP-1 medications aren’t appropriate for everyone. Other prescription weight-management medications may be considered based on your health history and individual needs.

Your provider will review the potential benefits, risks, side effects, and appropriate treatment options with you before starting medication.

Midlife & Menopause Weight Changes

“I’m Doing the Same Things I’ve Always Done. Why Am I Gaining Weight?”

Sound familiar?

Midlife can bring changes in metabolism, sleep, appetite, muscle mass, body composition, and where your body tends to store fat. For women entering perimenopause or menopause, hormonal changes can add another layer to the picture.

That doesn’t mean every extra pound is caused by hormones—or that weight gain is inevitable.

It means you may need a different approach.

For women experiencing other symptoms of perimenopause or menopause, our medical team can also discuss whether a comprehensive menopause evaluation may be appropriate.

Track More Than Pounds

See Progress the Scale Can’t Show

Your weight tells us something. It doesn’t tell us everything.

Hourglass uses ShapeScale 3D body scanning technology to help track changes in your body’s shape and measurements over time.

This gives you another way to see your progress—especially when you’re exercising, preserving muscle, or experiencing physical changes that aren’t fully reflected by the number on the scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to take a GLP-1 medication?

No. Medical weight management isn't synonymous with GLP-1 treatment. Your treatment plan is based on your health history, goals, needs, and medical eligibility.

How do I know if I qualify for weight loss medication?

Eligibility depends on factors including BMI, medical history, weight-related health conditions, current medications, and the specific medication being considered. Your provider will determine whether prescription treatment is appropriate.

What's the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?

Semaglutide works primarily through the GLP-1 pathway, while tirzepatide works through both GIP and GLP-1 pathways. Both can help regulate appetite and support weight loss in appropriate patients.

Will I need lab work?

Possibly. Laboratory testing is individualized based on your medical history, symptoms, medications, and treatment plan.

Can I transfer to Hourglass if I'm already taking a GLP-1?

Yes. We can evaluate patients currently receiving weight loss treatment elsewhere. Continuation of medication will be based on your medical evaluation and treatment needs.

What happens when I reach my goal weight?

We'll help you transition into an individualized maintenance plan focused on protecting your progress and supporting long-term health.

Do you offer telehealth?

Telehealth may be available for eligible Maryland patients depending on the type and stage of treatment.
